What a weekend! Even before the gates officially opened at this year’s Goodwood Revival, our team were working hard all week putting the final touches to the Austin Pedal Cars stand.
This year we welcomed a special exhibition: the 007-inspired customised J40 pedal car known as ‘Rusty’. Rusty was purchased from our stand last year and adapted to feature a bubble cannon, sweets dispenser and water jets. Thanks to Gary Weston for allowing us to display this unique pedal car.
As soon as the sun rose on Friday morning, we welcomed shoppers from our prime position at the entrance of the High Street.
We were also treated to a visit from Jarod DeAnda, official MC of the Settrington Cup. Jared interviewed Matt Merriman (Customer Services Manager at Austin Pedal Cars) about our fully customised and one-of-a-kind sparkling red J40 pedal car, valued at £25,000.
Saturday brought slightly breezier weather to the Chichester showground and left many ladies and gents running after flying hats. A bit of windy weather wasn’t enough to put off the pedallers for the first round of the Settrington Cup, though!
We saw 67 pedal cars take to the iconic track in a fiercely competitive race which saw one little J40 speeding ahead of the pack to victory.
On the final day of Goodwood Revival, we were blessed with glorious sunshine. Part two of the Settrington Cup took place under beautiful blue skies, with the same competitors reassembling to vie for the overall trophy.
It was also wonderful to receive a visit from Ted French, who won the very first Austin Pedal Cars Junior Grand Prix held at Silverstone in 1955. Ted’s original car is maintained as part of our heritage collection at our workshop in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Finally, it was time to pack up and bid farewell to the Goodwood Motor Circuit for another year. We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to visit the Austin Pedal Cars stand this weekend. You helped to make it another memorable Goodwood Revival.
