Austin Pedal Cars is the only dedicated Austin J40 pedal car sales, service, restoration, and community specialist in the world, and now holds the Austin trademark allowing for an official range of Austin pedal cars, spares, and accessories to be produced.

Austin Pedal Cars announces the publication of a brand new J40 book, lavishly published, full of newly uncovered history and finished with stunning photography from past and present. Published later this year, the book will provide the definitive history of the J40 and will tell the tale of how it helped to shape the UK car industry.

Austin Pedal Cars has purchased a very special J40, a car that will remain a permanent part of the company fleet and was found covered in rubbish at the back of a garage before undergoing a full restoration by George Rowbotham from Diddlebury in Shropshire. George is a retired automotive bodyshop professional, as is his friend Ken Gwillam who also worked on the two-month restoration project.

When new, the Austin J40 was an expensive and luxurious toy. Mimicking the real cars of the time, the pedal car was made from automotive steel, with working parts and electrics, all of which helped to justify the cost, which was the equivalent of a month’s salary at the time.
